Eventually, Peter is faced with saving his friends and being Spider-Man or doing nothing and returning to everyday life. The Sinister Six is not the only Marvel super-villain team that Sandman helped form. The Frightful Four are a team known primarily as antagonists to the Fantastic Four , hence their antithetical super-villain group name. The squad of villains made their initial debut in Fantastic Four 36 , originally intending to get revenge on their common enemy, Human Torch.

After the Fantastic Four finished hosting a party that included the X-Men and Avengers as guests, the Frightful Four ambushed the group. The Frightful Four escape after losing the fight in a quickly fought battle. Marvel Team-Up 1 is famous for many reasons, but it turned Sandman into the sympathetic villain most fans know him as today.

After a fight with Sandman, Spider-Man and Human quickly regroup and spend a whole night trying to track him down. After many hours, they finally find him but quickly learn that Sandman broke out of prison to see his mother on Christmas Eve.

Spider-Man and Human Torch make a deal with Sandman; they allow him to visit his mother as long as he promises to return to prison after Christmas. The Thing is called to a bar by one of its employees, who says Sandman just walked in and is seated at the bar.

The Thing immediately grabs a table and holds it over his head, ready to fight upon entering the bar. To The Thing's surprise, Sandman instantly surrenders, making The Thing think something is wrong with his old foe.

While sitting down and having drinks together, Sandman tells The Thing that he has been reevaluating his life as a criminal and is hoping for a second chance. Principal photography on the series began in October after production was delayed due to the coronavirus COVID pandemic.

Gaiman and the writers' room used the delay to polish Season 1 and plot a potential Season 2. Filming is currently taking place in the United Kingdom. The Vertigo comic focused on the Lord of Dreams Morpheus and has become one of the most influential works in the medium. The Sandman is being developed, co-written and executive produced by Allan Heinberg, who also serves as the showrunner. Gaiman and David S. Goyer will also executive produce and co-write the series.
