How to Rotate an iPod Touch Screen. Share on Facebook. Step 4 Click the "Next" button two more times and then wait for the computer to reinstall the operating system. In reply to 7Dan3's post on August 17, Setting a static IP won't help If you have access to the router at your client's location, temporarily disable all encryption on the Netgear router, remove any entry related to that router from the list of Preferred networks as described above and see if it will connect with no encryption.

That should narrow things down a bit. One thing that comes to mind is that, particularly when older wireless devices are involved, you may have to configure the correct encryption algorithm in addition to the wireless authentication system. This would be on the wireless network properties "Association" tab.

You'd need to check the router to see what it's using before you configure the adapter's properties. I would have thought that your adapter would automatically detect and use the correct algorithm when you set it to use WPA-PSK, but perhaps not. Any further guidance appreciated- otherwise it's an expensive trip to a computer shop. Can I buy a rescue CD that might do the trick?

You need to boot the computer from the antivirus rescue CD, not be in Safe Mode. Leave the CD-R in your optical drive and restart your computer. When you restart the computer you will see messages: 1. Possibly a message that says something like "Press F12 for temporary boot menu". If you have this message, press that function key. If you don't see a message about a boot menu you will need to go into the BIOS to change the boot order. This message will say something like "Press F2 to enter Setup".

Press that function key and you will enter the BIOS. Save your changes and exit Setup. The computer will boot from the rescue CD you made. Use the working Windows Explorer to copy the data to the rescue system's hard drive and then burn the data to cd or dvd or copy it to an external hard drive.

I prefer not to do this if I know the drive is infected because there is a chance of infecting the host system. In these cases, I use 2 below. Download the Knoppix. If you are doing this in an older operating system XP or Vista , you'll need third-party burning software like Nero, Roxio, or the free ImgBurn Windows 7 can burn.

Burn as an image, not as data.
